Optum Foot and Ankle has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient focused and detailed oriented Clinical Assistant to join our team. The Clinical Assistant is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols. Works cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes. Supports the teams in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.

Working Hours: Monday through Friday a 40-hour work week between the hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Rotating Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Schedule to be determined by manager upon hire.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepares exam rooms by disinfecting, stocking, and verifying appropriate medications are available

• Greets patients and assist them with signing in and completing paperwork

• Assists and accompanies patients to exam rooms

• Interviews patients and records information into the medical record

• Measures, collects, and records patient vital signs

• Prepares specimens for transportation to the lab

• Assists in examination and treatment of patients under clinician direction

• Performs other duties as requiredPerforms all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant’s practice. remove staples from superficial wounds, assist in wound dressing. Performs quality control checks on equipment. Prepares and sterilizes medical equipment using the autoclave

• Rooms patients according to policy and procedures, prepares patient for examination

• Records patient care documentation in the medical record accurately and in a timely manner

• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians, company standards and policies

• Respects patient confidentiality at all times and treats patients with courtesy and respect

• Organizes exam and treatment rooms, stocks and cleans rooms and sterilizes instruments

• Practices standard infection control precautions

• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO)

• Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma / GED (or higher)

• 1+ years of healthcare related experience

• Intermediate level of computer proficiency including the use MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and multiple web applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of experience working in a medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, and maintaining medical records

• Knowledge of Epic EMR software

• Bilingual in Spanish and English

• Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability

• Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines

• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

New Jersey Residents Only: The hourly range for New Jersey residents is $16.00 to $23.94 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
