Serving three primary markets passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.Position Overview: Global Lead Welding Engineer to lead Process Development and Standardization across Global Manufacturing Operations. Implement benchmark methods and systems to insure robust processes and highly effective manufacturing launches.Key Responsibilities:The successful candidate will be responsible for determining the best processes and techniques for various aspects of welding. Primary welding processes employed include MIG and Friction. Other welding processes employed include Magnetic-Arc and Laser, projection.Support new product and process introductions (costing and quoting) including Preliminary Process Design and determination of initial Capital Equipment and Tooling Requirements.Directly interface with the product design engineering team to ensure design for process and manufacturing (DFMA) requirements are addressed and met. Manage/Facilitate completion of all required Manufacturing Feasibility Assessments and Reviews.Champion establishment of Standard Bill Activities including Process, Equipment, Measurement, Full-Proofing/Poke-Yoke, and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (for applicable Welding processes).Performs root cause analysis with emphasis on eliminating problems through design analysis, ergonomic issues, and machine/welding/assembly process improvements including equipment/materials purchasing requirements.Prepares technical reports as a result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.Evaluates new developments in the welding field for possible application to current welding problems or production processes. May perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques, and materials.
