Piping Superintendent

Position Summary

Provide overall on-site administrative and technical management on Piping project site.

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.

  • Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with the design budget and schedule. Including interfacing with client representatives and subcontractors.

  • Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site functions as well as provide direction of administrative staff.

  • May authorize and approve all project personnel transactions purchase requisitions, field design change requests, etc.

  • Assist Project Management in developing and implementing project procedures, working documents, Standards, etc.

  • Ensure that all on-site personnel comply with project procedures, safety program requirements and work rules. Documenting all violations and notifying project management while recommending/implementing corrective actions as required.

  • Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts efficient use of materials, equipment and contractual performance of project.

  • Perform additional assignments and duties per Project Manager direction.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Minimum of 8 years construction management or craft supervision experience

  • Four year engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and or related experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction technology, equipment and methods as well as cost control, scheduling and safety.

  • Demonstrated success in team leadership, process adherence, ownership/commitment, learning agility and risk management capabilities.

  • Strategic thinker who can establish and manage plans while building and fostering relationships.

  • Knowledge of safety and relevant OSHA requirements and regulations.

    Proficient PC skills; including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management scheduling software.

    Working Conditions/Physical Effort

    Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in work boots, working in awkward body positions and able.
