Dart Container in Mason, MI has a unique opportunity to join our warehousing staff as a Forklift Mechanic ! We are looking for a hardworking individual who will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various Power Industrial Truck equiptment including, but not limited to, forklifts, aerial lifts, floor scrubbers, golf carts, etc. This role will also assist with various warehouse facilities maintenance such as dock locks, building signage, and overhead doors.

Available shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm Monday-Friday

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.

  • Follow and commit to safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)

  • Install, diagnose, maintain, modify, repair and/or troubleshoot a variety of system components including circuit boards, electrical parts, hydraulics, power steering, transmissions, and engines

  • Perform engine tune-ups on various makes/models of equipment

  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems to ensure that equiptment continue to run smoothly and operate efficiently

  • Operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), hoist, crane, and aerial lift

  • Maintain accurate documentation for assignments, machine repairs, parts inventory, and maintenance logs

  • Learn and use SAP Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Work Order Process, production schedules and reports, HMI control panels and machine controls and settings

    Core Skills and Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Three (3) years’ experience performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair, or comparable experience with trade school or training

  • Special knowledge in use of hand-tools, power-tools

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot moderately complex problems including knowledge of machines and tools, their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

  • Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics

  • Ability to observe, follow, understand, and evaluate processes demonstrated and other workplace procedures

  • Proficient in reading and following basic blueprints, manuals, and mechanic and electrical schematics

  • Experience operating test equipment and/or software

  • Ability to operate Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), hoists and cranes, and maintain PIT certification

  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
