Trinity Health Clinic Respiratory Therapist - Pulmonology Clinic - Full Time in Mason City, Iowa

Description:

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for the administration of routine respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients. This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team.

What you will do:

  • Performs incentive spirometry, aerosol therapy, oxygen therapy, pulmonary drainage procedures, BIPAP/CPAP, ekg, blood gas,six minute walk, outpatient testing, and suctioning following interpretation of physician order.

  • Assesses patients receiving Respiratory Care using knowledge of indications, contraindications, hazards of the above procedures and actions/reactions of medications being given.

  • Performs aseptic techniques when required, and routine cleaning and disinfecting procedures.

  • Provides patient education and on-going education support and training to clinical staff as needed. Assesses patient/family knowledge of health/illness.

  • Performs, maintains and documents quality controls as applicable/requested.

  • Assists in scheduling patient for office appointments, lab/diagnostic tests/referrals. Reviews written test preparation handout with patient and documents in medical record.

  • Provides education and support to post-hospital and post-emergency room patients.

  • Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.

  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the area of respiratory care as it relates to the ambulatory setting and age specific patient populations.

Hours:

Fulltime/ Monday - Friday / No weekends / No holidays

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; or associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science required .

  • Graduate of respiratory therapy program required.

  • Credentialed by the NBRC at the Certified Respiratory Therapist or Registered Respiratory Therapist level required.

  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure in the state of Iowa required.

  • CAPRS and N95 fit testing validation within 30 days of hire required.

  • Must have demonstrated competence in Respiratory Care.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years.
