Vectrus Aircraft Mechanic III Electrical in Marysville, California

Overview

The Electrical and Environmental (E&E), Aircraft Mechanic III works under the guidance of the Team Lead and Supervisor. The E&E mechanic performs organizational, intermediate, and depot level repair of U-2 aircraft electrical and environmental systems to include troubleshooting, inspection, modifications, removal and installation of components, and operation of E&E systems. The mechanic must be knowledgeable in documentation of maintenance discrepancies in aircraft forms and Integrated Maintenance Data System to include signing off In-Process Inspections (IPIs) and safety-of-flight conditions (Red X). This position requires a U.S. passport for occasional travel to overseas locations and must be able to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts. Please note: this task order has a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) in place.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, inspects, removes, installs, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and operates aircraft E&E systems, components, and associated support and test equipment

  • Inspects and evaluates aircraft E&E maintenance activities. Determines operational status of assigned assets. Interprets and determines corrective actions. Ensures compliance with technical publications and directives

  • Performs off-equipment maintenance on: protection, caution, and warning panels; lighting equipment; frequency and load controls; anti-icing controllers; inverters; voltage regulators; nose steering and anti-skid amplifiers; generators; actuators, relays, motors, and valves; lighting equipment; fire and overheat panels; batteries; and special equipment testers

  • Performs on-equipment maintenance on: direct and alternating current; landing gear, anti-skid, steering; lighting; master caution and warning; take-off warning; flight control; anti-icing; fire and overheat warning; fuel control; air conditioning, bleed air, cabin pressurization, and auxiliary pressurization; liquid oxygen; and aircraft utility systems

  • Performs aircraft servicing to include fueling, oxygen, oil, and lubrication

  • Performs other tasks such as aircraft wash, tow, and launch/recovery team member

  • Uses electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and other test and support equipment

  • Maintains compressed gas equipment

  • Documents maintenance and discrepancies in forms and Integrated Maintenance Data System to include In-Process Inspections (IPIs) and clearing of Red X conditions

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus successful completion of basic and craftsman level related military or commercial courses (courses in mathematics, algebra, chemistry, physics, mechanical drawing and metal working are desirable)

  • Completion of the Air Force basic aircraft E&E systems maintenance course 2A6X6 and U-2 E&E experience preferred

  • Knowledge of U-2 electrical, electronic, oxygen, cabin pressurization, and mechanical principles relating to E&E systems; concepts and application of maintenance directives; meaning of symbols used in wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics

  • Proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials

    Skills:

  • Be reliable, self-motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non-confrontational attitude

  • Be able to speak, read, write, and understand English

    Other Qualifications:

  • This position will require a driver's license, U.S. citizenship, and an active DoD Secret security clearance.
