Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Service Line Medical Director (SLMD) - Musculoskeletal Services reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This individual will work collaboratively with a Service Line Administrator dyad partner, as well as with other members of the system and local leadership teams, in order to carry out the mission, vision and values of the Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS). The SLMD will have direct oversight for Musculoskeletal based specialties within the service line. The position will be .4 FTE administrative and up to .6 FTE clinical; however, this is negotiable.

The SLMD will be directly involved with adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards, market share/specialty planning, budget and financial performance of the service line (in conjunction with administrator), behavior and quality performance of the service line providers, recruitment for service line specialties, ensuring operational efficiencies and managing outcomes/quality within the service line, setting standards for patient experience, team building and other administrative duties assigned to leaders of the organization.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Minimum Required: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.); Training to practice medicine within the Musculoskeletal specialties.

Preferred/Optional: MBA or MHA

Experience

Minimum Required: Two years’ experience with leadership role(s).

Preferred/Optional: Three or more years’ experience with leadership role(s) preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Minimum Required:

  • Board certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Medical Specialties (AOBMS)

  • Current and unrestricted applicable State MD/DO license

  • Member in good standing of Marshfield Clinic Health System Medical Staff Office
