Landscaping by J. Michael is looking for a Junior Estimator. The ideal candidates are results-driven, passionate about the green industry and contributing to growth.

Job Summary

Procure bidding opportunities through various means to increase company backlog and future growth.  

Job Duties:                                    

  • Read and interpret project specifications and plans to prepare detailed, comprehensive, and accurate quantity and material price take-offs.

  • Develop project cost summaries, present results and recommendations as needed; explain estimates to potential clients.

  • Collaborate with LJM team members, landscape architects, clients, contractors and sub-contractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.

  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects and services, tracking actual cost relative to bids.

  • Provide improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies to ensure historical data is utilized.

  • Other duties as assigned. 

    SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Proficient with CAD and other landscape software programs.

  • Knowledge of landscape construction industry, building techniques and engineering.

  • Knowledge of current project market pricing.

  • Ability to read, interpret and follow blueprints as well as other planning/technical documents.

  • Familiarity with building codes, laws and regulations.

  • Understand construction concepts, scheduling, bidding and estimating.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • 3 years of landscape, construction and estimating experience preferred. 

  • Bachelor's Degree in an industry-related field, such as architecture, construction management or engineering
