We are seeking a Principal Research Scientist to join our R&D team in Marshall, MN . This position is responsible for developing new ingredients, technology platforms and new applications of existing technologies for commercialization into new and existing products.

    Responsibilities

  • Reformulate products and streamline processes to reduce costs effectively

  • Provide technical and applications expertise to support cost saving projects and drive opportunities to internal commercialization

  • Research and develop new technologies and platforms that can be commercialized into products or solutions that support corporation, business units, and department product strategies

  • Research and develop new applications of current known ingredient and platform technologies that can be commercialized to replace or enhance existing products.

  • Partner with strategic suppliers to identify and collaborate in the development of new ingredient and platform technologies

  • Provide technical knowledge and expertise to resolve complex ingredient, product, and process issues

  • Document all work according to established procedures and guidelines and prepare various project reports to project personnel and project leader to ensure complete communication of project status, progress, issues, solutions, timeline, and accountability

  • Develop and implement project plans and schedules

  • Confer with team members to resolve problems as it relates to projects

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree(required)/ Ph.D.(preferred) in Food Science, Meat Science or Dairy Science

  • 8+ years of related industry experience; prefer meat and/or dairy experience.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of food ingredients, food functionality, food chemistry, and food processing.

  • Strong knowledge in design, execution, and statistical analysis of experiments.

  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and planning skills. Basic knowledge of analytical methods and ability to operate analytical equipment.

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity. Strong influencing and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Able to engage in constructive conflict. Ability to connect and integrate disparate ideas.

  • Ability to drive projects to completion with thorough reporting and documentation.

  • Persistence, optimism, and courage. Drive for results.

  • Ability to research literature and patents.
