Tenneco Inc Human Resources Supervisor in Marshall, Michigan

Responsible for providing overall support for the Human Resources function in a manner which achieves plant and departmental goals and objectives and satisfying the needs of the employees. Major responsibilities include oversight over recruitment, communications, workers compensation, absenteeism management, training, generalist development, employee relations activities and overall compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the overall strategic direction of the plant's Human Resources functions and guiding members of the organization towards the achievement of the business unit and plant objectives. Supervise all employment activities for the plant, including interviewing, screening, hiring, placing, and orientating all salaried and hourly employees, the internal bidding procedure for hourly employees, and the layoff and recall for the hourly workforce. Identify and addressing employee requirements regarding performance issues, training, and career growth. Direct all loss-prevention activities including health and safety, Workers Compensation, employee wellness programs, and return-to-work programs. Ensure functional compliance with all federal, state, and local statutory requirements including EEO, NLRB, OFCCP, etc., and develop, manage, and maintain an effective Affirmative Action Program (AAP) that is compliant with federal laws and the scrutiny of OFCCP. Participate in the development of long-range objectives for the department. Recommend innovative solutions, procedures, and programs that contribute to achieving the objectives of the company and positive employee relations. Lead employee relations and team activities including incentive programs. Conduct internal investigations and assist with progressive disciplinary process and terminations. Oversee staffing for all hourly positions. This includes recruiting, coordinating internal job posting system, layoffs, and staffing with temporary staffing agencies. Oversee and ensure effectiveness of the onboarding process for all new employees. Maintain complete and accurate records and files including personnel files for all hourly employees. This includes filing as necessary. Oversee the administration of attendance and leave of absences, including FMLA and Accident and Sickness administration. Maintain the HRIS system (SAP) for all employees including new hire and change in status information. This includes data entry on a regular basis. Maintain Lotus Notes Electronic form system in conjunction with IT. Maintain and update affirmative action plan. Other miscellaneous projects and duties assigned. Employee must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete employment verifications as necessary. Assist in researching and resolving payroll issues. Prepare and maintain various department reports.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required. At least 5 years of HR related experience. Proficiency with software programs including word processing and spreadsheets required. A team player who is results driven, able to work under pressure, has strong leadership skills, high energy, strong organizational skills, is empathetic and able to deal with issues in an open, honest manner Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to the employees and the management group. Knowledge of OSHA regulations, EEOC reporting requirements, NLRA and Worker's Compensation state statutes. Experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
