Marquette Board of Light and Power Manager of Metering and Customer Service in Marquette, Michigan

Marquette Board of Light and Power *seeks an experienced Manager of Metering and Customer Service* to join their team in Marquette, MI. As the Manager of Metering and Customer Service, you will lead and support the metering and customer service teams while building relationships with customers through site visits and phone calls.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Assign tasks to metering and customer service personnel.
  • Monitor workflow and job completion within assigned time and budget requirements.
  • Analyze work methods for efficiency, including work assignment scheduling, material handling, equipment purchases, etc.
  • Oversee department safety protocols and procedures while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations including MIOSHA and OSHA.
  • Administer company policies and procedures, including documenting and improving business processes.
  • Manage the Customer Service Department activities, including customer service, collections, customer programs, energy optimization, and meter services.
  • De-escalate customer complaints.
  • Serve as the utility's contact with customers participating in special programs, assessing energy consumption and promoting energy-saving initiatives.
  • Assure proper instruction/training is provided regarding new metering methods/technology.
  • Assist with the response to after-hours calls as needed and provides technical and other assistance as required during interruption of service or other situations requiring immediate response.  
  • Manage all aspects of the utility's Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. 
  • Lead contact for the MBLP's Customer Information System (CIS), Meter Data Management (MDM) and Automated Metering Reading (AMR) software platforms.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Education requirement of:

    • Associate degree in electrical technology, or a related electrical discipline; OR
    •  Combination of education and licensed State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician; OR
    • Associate degree in management or a related field.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience required.

  • Experience in metering training a plus.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Able to lead, motivate, and train staff.

  • Strong analytical skills.
