What You Will Do: As Gannett Fleming continues to grow and expand, we are looking for a talented Dams and Hydraulics Engineer to become part of our Dams and Hydraulics team that operates throughout the United States.

Gannett Fleming's Michigan Earth Sciences business group is seeking a Dams and Hydraulics Engineer to support a wide range of design and study projects. Join our team! Candidates must reside within a 2-hour driving distance from our Marquette, MI office.

Gannett Fleming is recognized as a national leader in dams and water resources engineering, providing a comprehensive range of engineering services for dams, flood control, water supply, and transportation projects - from planning, engineering, and design through construction management and decommissioning.  We rely on our Dams and Hydraulics Engineers to deliver quality results that will actively engage our clients and advance our company forward.

In this role, you will need to be a driven, motivated engineer with practical knowledge in dam engineering and have a passion for project design and/or hydraulic modeling. You must be able to use design software and write effectively to communicate our vision for our clients' projects.

As a Dams and Hydraulics Engineer, you are an integral part of our team and our company.

Responsibilities Could Include: Support design for water resource projects including new dams, dam rehabilitation, and flood control projects as well as hydraulic structures. Conduct field observations of project sites to assess existing conditions as well as to oversee construction operations. Perform analyses (hydrologic / hydraulic, structural, and/or geotechnical) of existing and proposed dam facilities. Prepare technical reports and present findings to clients.Education | Experience: Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Required, Master's Degree Preferred. 5-10 years of experience. Previous experience in at least two of the following areas: Performing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and similar engineering calculations for dam facilities. Performing structural analyses of hydraulic structures with use of finite element software (ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000, STAAD, RISA). Previous participation in risk analysis of dams. Performing stability analyses of dams and other related structures. Experience with dam safety inspections and the FERC Part 12 process. Previous experience in the development of design documents for dam facilities (design drawings, specifications, etc.). Field experience with construction observation activities is preferred. Strong analytical and report/proposal writing skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment. Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite is required. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification. Ability to prepare contracts, design reports, and other client documents. Desire to assist with business development through client visits and preparing proposals.
