Our Connected Aviation Solutions (CAS) group has an exciting career-growth opportunity for an Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) Engineering team. This is an opportunity to join a team supporting the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. We are seeking a senior electrical engineer with experience in power electronic circuits, comfortable working with commercial off-the-shelf and custom hardware designs to achieve system requirements. This opportunity requires a combination of classic design techniques, modern power electronics knowledge, and hands on laboratory skills.
What YOU will do:
Identifying potential power supply candidates, conducting a trade study with potential devices, and choosing the device that meets the requirements.
Perform preliminary and detailed design activities.
Experience in the design and development of power system hardware including power converters, power conditioners, or power distribution systems.
Conduct testing activities in the lab in support of Engineering Change Proposals. Testing includes inrush, harmonics, and power factor characterization.
Experience writing detailed verification test plans and test reports.
Interface with other disciplines (Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain) in support of product development.
Education & Experience:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
Qualifications you must have:
Minimum 5 years’ experience designing, evaluating, and testing power supplies.
Prior experience collaborating and teaming with other engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, and customers.
Experience completing technical documentation relating to Configuration Control, Change Management, Trade Studies, Preliminary and Detailed Design artifacts and presentations.
Experience with PCB/PWB design.
Experience working with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

General knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
