Job Description Summary

Reporting directly to the PAC Services Solutions CoE Leader, the Service Application Engineer (SAE) is a key member of the PAC Services Solutions - Advance Automation Applications (AAA) CoE team. The SAE shall have advanced technical expertise in power system design & operation and knowledge of our grid automation products and systems, with special focus on PAC Services customers.

Shall be able to assist customers with their advanced applications, propose different solutions and help customers make decisions. SAE will engage with customers in co-creation dialogue, promote our AAA offerings, and act as the technical liaison between the customer and GA team for AAA applications. SAE will also supplement our TAE (Technical Application Engineering) teams in their pre-sale endeavors as well as support on delivering our AAA offering being engaged on engineering, standardization, and on-site activities if needed to drive the solution worldwide for growing product revenue, margin and overall share in the global market.

Job Description

Be accountable for execution of first-of-a-kind project AAA Solutions together with the AAA R&D team as well as support to address sales, tendering and operations needs from all GA regions. AAA solutions include electrical monitoring and control systems, power management systems, secondary generation regulation, remedial action schemes applicable to islanded or non-islanded installations.

The SAE in PAC Services Solutions - AAA COE team will be responsible for:

  • Execute first-of-a-kind projects coordinating with the AAA R&D teams.

  • RTDS/ OPAL testing of new AAA solutions.

  • Promote AAA offering. Owning plans and actions with the goal of expanding our activities with selected segments and accounts.

  • Define AAA solutions and technical architectures.

  • Design and develop standardized solution for key segments/customers.

  • Provide advance technical support and be a trusted advisor to customers.

  • Support Sales & Tendering teams in presales activities and on service offer preparation.

  • Liaise effectively with customers in job planning, execution, follow-up and sales support, and internally with engineering departments, manufacturing, and Sales team.

  • Participate in service activities when needed: Factory and Site Acceptance Testing, Technical Consulting, Training, On-site Support and Commissioning, etc.

  • EHS Leadership, conduct work in compliance with applicable regulations and encourage accurate employee safety practices.

  • Occasionally provide installation, testing, commissioning and service direction on-site and remotely.

  • Provide both external and internal timely, accurate, professional reports.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university or college and /or equivalent experience.

Strong experience in Design and Engineering with good technical acumen in the domain of Grid Automation.

  • Entrepreneurial and team player.

  • Demonstrated experience in autonomous problem-solving with proposal of adapted solutions.

  • Demonstrated capability to communicate clearly at technical level either orally or in writing including effective presentation skills.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Generation Control and/or Power Management systems.

  • Experience in SCADA systems and communication protocols like IEC61850, Modbus, DNP3, IEC104

  • Experience in IEC61131 PLC Programming is desired.

  • Programming skills in Python, VBA are desired.

  • GPG platform knowledge is desired.

  • Proficiency level in English. Other languages valued (Spanish, French, Arabic, German, Italian and/or Russian).

  • Willingness and ability to travel globally.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus and ability to cooperate with the different departments.

  • A rigorous team working approach, good communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of self-motivation, flexibility and self-learning aptitude.

  • Must be a motivator, self-starter and dedicated team player with a sense of urgency and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
