Job Description Summary

The Senior SMR Mechanical Systems Engineer demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. This is a technical position that integrates and develops processes that meet business needs across the organization and requires long-term planning. This role contributes to the overall strategy of the business and manages complex issues within the Systems Engineering area.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Mechanical Nuclear Island Support Systems (MNISS) engineering activities that support the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) design

  • Activities focus on management of refueling outage execution in the safest, most efficient, and most economical manner possible. This includes supporting outage length requirements, outage schedule development, and outage logistics

  • Responsible for development of outage tooling specifications and fabrication drawings

  • Responsible for PEng stamping of outage tooling, as required, for registration purposes

  • Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity

  • Provide support to the Licensing organization for regulatory related deliverables.

  • Liaise with customers either on or off site as necessary, in partnership with a Project Manager

  • Responsible for analysis and design work supporting requirements specifications

  • Interface with cross-functional teams and departments to complete these tasks

  • Improve areas of project execution and department management through Six Sigma methodology

  • Support development efforts for both new products and new technology

  • Responsible to undertake the necessary corrective and preventive actions resulting from Quality non-compliance monitoring and audit programs

  • Responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Action Work Outs (LAWO)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Nuclear Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in an engineering role

  • Canadian PE Certification

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Eligibility Requirements

Minimum in-person attendance of 2 days per week in the Markham, ON office
