IBM Senior Backend Developer in Markham, Ontario

Your Role and Responsibilities

As a member of the IBM Security development team, you will be working on back-end services, end-to-end system design, and data analytics. Members of this team tend to have a high degree of fluency in one or more languages (Java and/or C++), database technologies (relational, document, distributed), and a foundational knowledge of cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and OpenShift Container Platform.

You will be responsible for the following:

  • Develop new and maintain current features for IBM Security SOAR Platform

  • Prepare technical requirements and software design specifications.

  • Work in an Agile Environment to deliver solutions in a timely manner

  • Establish strong communication and relationships between engineering, infrastructure, and project/product management teams.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

You must have a minimum of 5+ years experience in the following:

  • Professional experience programming in Java or C/C++ Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design and programming concepts

  • Professional experience in web application programming and REST architecture

  • Strong communication skills

  • Location Markham, Ontario - 3 days in office and 2 days remote - per week.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

At least 2+ years of experience with the following:

  • Experience with Tomcat, Jersey, Hibernate, JTA, Camel, and ActiveMQ.

  • Experience in database schema design, performance, tuning, and scalability.

  • Implementing distributed applications in container environment (Docker/Kubernetes).

  • Experience with agile software development, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and multi-national teams.
