Summary

As an industry leader, we take pride in our service-oriented construction operations and strive for excellence in all areas. We are looking for an enthusiastic Estimator/Project Coordinator who is willing to take challenges head on, embrace them and learn something new every day. The primary responsibility of this position is to support in the areas of estimating, job costing and building effective relationships with vendors and client representatives. It will also involve coordination of activities on various job sites.

As a Paving Estimator, You Will;

  • Examine the scope of work for bidding and perform field investigations as necessary

  • Accurately compile work estimates

  • Proactively respond to clients on bid requests and follow up timely on inquiries etc.

  • Attend weekly estimating meeting

  • Deliver tenders to municipalities and source potential work

  • Assist with overall project performance including costs, schedule, and quality.

  • Maintain and promote excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and public.

  • Manage change order processes, including pricing, negotiating, processing and assessing cost and schedule impact.

  • Expedite progress payment certificates, final payment certificates and all extra work orders as per the contract.

  • Adhere to the Miller Group Policy and Procedure Manual.

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for construction projects by adhering to the Company's OH&S management system.

  • Assist in planning, preparing and updating work schedules and executing construction activities including supervision of crews and related equipment.

  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control activities on the project site and adherence to contract requirements.

  • Maintain plans, specifications, cost and materials estimates, subcontracts and reports and ensures latest issues are distributed as required.

  • Coordinate procurement of construction materials ensuring timely delivery and accuracy of materials in accordance with the terms of the purchase order.

  • Assists in ensuring project cost requirements are met and coding procedures are followed.

  • Ensure safety standards are met through Healthy and Safety guidelines (COR Training)

What You Will Bring

  • A civil or technical college diploma/degree. P.Eng. or CET an asset but not mandatory.

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in civil estimating.

  • Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals and objectives

  • Attention to details and superior organization skills to work well with shifting priorities and rapid change

  • Strong ability to work with a highly functional team

  • Good communication skills both spoken and written

  • Valid driver's license

  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook, MS Word and Excel skills

  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and evening shifts as the project schedule demands
