Description Robert Half is looking for an ambitious, eager Controller to join the team at an well-respected services company. This is a leadership role with responsibility over an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. What you get to do every day
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Review deliverables of self and team to align with client expectations
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Comfortable in taking on tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll Requirements - Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Detailed and have the ability work independently
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Foundational knowledge in FASB
Comprehensive knowledge of month end closings
Financial statement preparation experience
GASB experience
Strong familiarity with auditing
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
