Pillar Credit Union is a growing organization with the mission to help our members reach their financial goals. We are looking for an Accounting Clerk to join our team and support our efforts to improve the financial wellbeing of our members and our communities.

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational and mathematical skills. They will be able to assist the Controller in managing the Credit Union's accounting operations with a strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Process the daily ACH, share draft, and bill pay transmission files. This includes receiving, balancing, posting, exception processing, returns, etc.

  • Perform Accounts Payable tasks.

  • Perform routine daily and monthly accounting activities, including but not limited to end-of-month processing/closing, general ledger reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

  • Assist in preparing any and all accounting reports needed by the Credit Union.

  • Assist with any audits or exams being conducted.

  • On a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual basis, as applicable, file and submit sales tax, use tax and IRA withholding.

     

Skills

  • Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience in Credit Union or banking industry.

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and accounting principles.

  • Experience with balance sheet reconciliation and data entry tasks.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel software programs.

  • Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
