Purpose

Responsible for the proper preventive, and corrective maintenance of electrical systems that can directly affect the safety and operation of the power plant.  Will perform a variety of work assignments requiring knowledge in the electrical field.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain and repair plant electrical distribution systems to the highest possible standard maximizing availability & reliability with strict observance of plant safety policies and procedures. 
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and perform preventive maintenance on all Plant electrical components, including UPS and battery systems.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and maintenance functions including, but not limited to replacing motors, relays, breakers, electrical disconnects of rotating machinery, and use of all electrical hand tools.
  • Must have knowledge of high voltage circuitry with troubleshooting ability and experience on 4,160V and/or 13,800V breakers, 480V breakers, starters, and electric motors of all sizes.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and work with service manuals, blueprints, sketches, technical manuals, control wire diagrams and other written instructions to evaluate all electrical maintenance and logic in accordance with local and national codes.
  • Investigate and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment problems, including but not limited to AC, DC, digital, analog, DCS software, turbine controls, CEM system and PLC's.
  • Recommend and implement maintenance and operational improvements that enhance performance and availability.
  • Maintain and update electrical maintenance records and documentation.
  • Assist with routine mechanical maintenance on an as needed basis. 
  • Work overtime as required to maintain equipment availability.   
  • ** Available to respond to emergency call-ins to work anytime day or night.  Holiday, weekend, overtime, and nightshift work may be required. 
  • Perform the housekeeping functions and equipment cleaning as necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Essential Physical Abilities

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to respond to plant emergencies.
  • Ability to perform work at heights (up to 200 ft).
  • Must have eyesight corrected to 20/40
  • Ability to pass a respirator physical and fit test.
  • Ability to make significant independent judgements.
  • Ability to meet highest attendance requirements.
  • Ability to use personal computer, email, MS Office, calculator, etc.

Education /Experience

  • Minimum of a high school education or equivalent with 3 years' experience in power plant electrical maintenance or industrial electrical maintenance industry.
  • Multiple years military experience in electrical maintenance and repairs in place of power plant experience considered.        

Working Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This job involves a working environment of 90% indoors and 10% outdoors.
