Maintenance Mechanic

ROLE :

Plan and perform all operations to install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of ordinary to complex plant and foundry equipment. Work involves a general mechanical knowledge, the application and relation to electrical, electronic, and hydraulic controls. Knowledge is required in arc welding, brazing, piping related to machines or equipment, and a general mechanics knowledge of rigging.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Perform a variety of preventative maintenance tasks on equipment throughout the plant.

  • Check operating problems to determine involvement of electrical or electronic effect and the necessity of obtaining assistance of electricians or others.

  • Tear down, determine extent of troubles, repair or replace worn/ defective parts, re-assemble, try-out, and adjust, if required.

  • Make routine repairs, such as replacing motors, bearings, valves, belts, and conveyors.

  • Perform simple machine tool operations for the fabrication or repair of machine parts or components.

  • Assist with electrical repair as directed.

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.

  • Use precision measuring equipment, such as micrometers and depth gauges.

  • Follow all safety rules and other regulations.

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS :

  • Ability to read and work from drawings, charts, parts list, and service manuals. Ability to correspond with outside vendors when troubleshooting equipment.

  • Ability to collect data and draw valid conclusions pertaining to equipment problems.

  • Sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers. The employee will regularly lift and/or carry up to 50lbs and occasionally up to 75lbs with assistance. Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights up to 120'. May be required to work in awkward and tight spaces.

  • Noise level moderate to loud, exposure to dust, fumes and may be required to work outside in adverse conditions.

    Education/Experience Requirements :

  • 2 to 3 years trade training or equivalent experience.

If selected for consideration, candidates must successfully complete a selection process that includes interviews, aptitude tests, references verification, pre-employment drug screening, a pre-employment physical, and a job function test.
