Lockheed Martin System Safety Engineer Staff - Level 4 in Marietta, Georgia

Description: You will be a System Safety Engineer for the Marietta System Safety Team supporting Air Mobility and Maritime Missions / Advanced Development Programs. Our team is a specialty engineering organization that is tasked with executing a System Safety program to identify and control safety hazards to an acceptable risk. System Safety programs MIL-STD-882, ARP4754, and ARP4761 to ensure safe operations across the entire life cycle (design, operations, maintenance, sustainment, etc.) MIL-STD-882, ARP4754, and ARP4761.

What You Will Be Doing

As a System Safety Engineer you will be responsible supporting System Safety Engineering efforts for ADP aircraft and supporting System Safety Program Plan development and execution. Your responsibilities will include:

• Performing analyses for hazard identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques typically used in the design of aircraft weapon systems and sustainment activities.

• Leading System Safety Analyses including Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), System Safety Analysis (SSA), and others.

• Performing qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to conduct risk assessments and trade studies needed to evaluate and optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate safety hazards.

• Coordinate system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management and external customers.

• You should also have an understanding of adjacent disciplines for efficient collaboration and trade-offs supporting all program objectives.

• The candidate must be capable of establishing software safety requirements in accordance with the appropriate standard and evaluating the functional impacts of noncompliance in coordination with design SMEs.

This is considered an emerging technical authority position within the system safety discipline.

Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or related technical degree.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with communicating cross-functionally

Experience leading projects and teams

Desired Skills:

Full life-cycle experience with system safety analyses, standards, and tools

Military or civilian flight experience

Flight management system and/or navigation system experience

Model-based system engineering (MBSE) training or experience

Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754

Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes

Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter

Experience with military or government programs

Knowledge of statistical analysis methods

Experience working with international customers and suppliers

Government contract execution experience

Ability to operate autonomously with minimal direction from senior management

Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in the resolution of highly complex issues, including direct interaction with senior leadership within company and customer organizations and a demonstrated ability to deal with complex and challenging customer and supplier relationships

Experience with software safety requirements across the full development lifecycle from hazard identification through development to system/software qualification test.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
