ROLE

The Senior Staff Accountant role at Applied Technical Services involves utilizing advanced accounting knowledge to support the Corporate Accounting department in financial month-end close and consolidations. Responsibilities include overseeing month-end procedures, assisting with audits, mentoring staff accountants, handling fixed asset accounting, tax filings, and supporting Accounts Payable, among other duties.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform and review month end close procedures for multiple subsidiary businesses including preparing and reviewing journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts

  • Assist with the annual external audit

  • Work with departments and subsidiaries across the organization to resolve issues or research Accounting related issues, processes or system migrations

  • Mentor and train staff accountants

  • Fixed Asset accounting, research, identification, entry and depreciation based on corporate policies

  • Prepare and file monthly state sales and excise taxes

  • File and/or review Census Bureau quarterly and annual forms

  • Various efforts to support Accounts Payable

  • Maintain portions of the department’s SharePoint site including close calendar and roster

  • Other duties or projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA or MBA preferred.

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization

  • Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial systems.
