Fairview Health Services Pharmacy Second Year Student Intern - Oncology in Maple Grove, Minnesota

Overview

M Health Fairview is looking for a second year pharmacy student to join the Fairview Maple Grove Oncology Pharmacy Intern Program!

We have interns/students work as a pharmacy technician to understand the operations of the Oncology Pharmacy. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will be mentored one-on-one with pharmacists to gain hands on pharmacy experience. Our program provides opportunity to work closely with registered pharmacists to complete activities that include direct patient care, medication therapy management, compounding medications and participation in process improvement projects that impact the health system. This is a casual position meaning all hours are as needed/available (most interns choose to work ten hours a week). Located in Maple Grove, MN

This role is open to pharmacy school students that will graduate in the class of 2027!

Responsibilities Job Description

This position will:

  • Assist with compounding and distribution of pharmaceuticals, IV solutions and documentation as ordered by qualified prescribers.

  • Participate in team meetings/discussions with clinical pharmacy specialists, pharmacy residents, pharmacy students and technicians.

Future responsibilities include:

  • Oral chemotherapy monitoring of patients including in person counseling and telemedicine

  • Counseling of patients in infusion area about take home medications including new anti-nausea medications or other supportive care medication

  • Project management including the possibility of IRB approved studies

  • Didactic teaching (primarily over the summer) will be provided to interns to expand knowledge base and support students in this job role

Qualifications

Acceptance or enrollment in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program is a requirement to be eligible for this internship.

Registered Technician with Minnesota Board of Pharm. and/or Registered Intern with the Minnesota Board of Pharm. (required prior to start date)
