Highway/Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager

  • Maple Grove headquarters and predominantly metro area projects, very minimal overnight travel - you're usually home at night.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's Civil Engineering/Construction Management degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.

  • 3+ years Project Management/Construction Management experience; diversified Highway/Heavy Civil Construction experience preferred; Design-Build project experience a plus.

  • Experience using HCSS Heavy Job or similar Project Management software a plus.

  • Excellent leadership, organization, communication, and negotiating skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support project bidding and procurement activities.

  • Plan, administer and supervise Highway/Heavy Civil construction projects.

  • Maintain excellent relationships with project partners - owner, consultants, subcontractors -- through constant communication and consistent professional behavior.

  • Establish and maintain safe working conditions; implement and enforce corporate safety policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate all phases of project construction, ensuring work is performed on time and within budget, proactively identify potential delays and address conflicts.

  • Negotiate and process extra work claims, change orders, supplemental agreements, and value engineering concepts.

  • Track and monitor subcontractor work and billings.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment includes a traditional indoor office environment and outdoors on rough terrain at construction sites. Outdoor exposure to various weather conditions, noise, dust, and other materials is typical. The work environment is in areas where heavy equipment, power tools and traffic is present. There is exposure to heights up to 50 feet and depths of up to 80 feet at the construction sites.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands may vary depending on work environment. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to input information, handle, carry (with and without assistance), feel objects, tools (of varying size and weight), or controls. They are occasionally required to lift, carry, push, pull, and reach overhead materials up to 20 pounds, along with frequent gross manipulation using their hands. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
