Martin Marietta Materials Heavy Equipment Mechanic in Maple Grove, Minnesota

JOB DESCRIPTION The Martin Marietta Minnesota District is looking for a versatile Heavy Equipment Mechanic. This position will perform mechanical repairs on diesel powered mobile equipment as well as aggregate and asphalt plant equipment (loaders, dozers, crushers, conveyors, etc.) Responsibilities include trouble shooting and repairs of heavy equipment, rebuilds, removal and installation of mechanical parts, and preventative maintenance on all types of diesel-powered equipment. This is a union position and membership in the Operating Engineers Local 49 is required, current member preferred. Essential Functions * Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair * Weld, cut, fabricate as needed * Advanced knowledge of engines, drive train, brakes, electrical and hydraulics Competencies * Safety Acumen * Teamwork * Problem-Solving * Communication * Critical Thinking * Analytical Skills Work Environment This is a full-time position that may require long hours, overtime, and weekend work with an average of 48 hours per week. This job operates 100% of the time in a surface mine setting. This role will be based out of the maintenance facility in Maple Grove. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
