Responsibilities Evaluates patients with varied diagnoses to determine developmental and/or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations; identifies patient's strengths and deficits; establishes goals; and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs. Administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits to provide optimal development, function, and independence; utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet each patient's specific needs and achieve therapy goals; observes progress and/or changes in patient's condition and modifies treatment plan accordingly. Educates patients/parents/caregivers on treatment goals and therapy plan; instructs on therapeutic activities to follow at home; documents instruction; and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. Documents patients evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plan, and recommendations in compliance with documentation requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations; utilizes appropriate computerized or standardized documentation methods, as applicable to caseload. Communicates patient's status and collaborates with physicians, third-party payors, and relevant healthcare providers. Participates in Evidence Based Practice, maintaining active knowledge of peer reviewed literature and implementing this information in best clinical care.
