Application Engineer - Electrical Job Functions: Job Summary Job Functions (Essential) Lead electrical design to properly configure integration of systems and controls to meet client needs and contractual requirements. Review system architecture, design, control schemes and validation efforts and prepare single-line diagrams / concept drawings. Review and compare customer specifications against RRSA/mtu design and equipment vendor proposals. Create RFI(s) (Request for Information) as needed to ensure client expectation is clearly communicated. Coordinate sub-supplier and oversight for paid contract specific engineering and documentation. Manage project design and development associated with new or existing products or concepts. This includes (but not limited to): control systems, wiring harnesses, electrical diagrams, electronic engine governor systems, automatic voltage regulators, transformers, heaters, distribution panels, motor controls, protective relays, low & medium voltage paralleling switchgear, and any other electrical aspects of products to meet the client or project needs. Analyze manufacturer's wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, data sheets and similar drawings. Research and consolidate requirements from various engineering standards, contracts, and proposal documents. Prepare basic engineering calculations, contract requirements and drawings in accordance with applicable electrical standards & codes, while utilizing industry standard/RRSA/mtu adopted symbology and naming conventions. Prepare draft level equipment or performance specifications for major electrical equipment and collaborate with internal departments such as purchasing & engineering to procure components. Completes work according to standard engineering principles and practices Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct. Strong applied knowledge about Diesel and Gas reciprocating engines, power generation, energy storage and AC Power Systems. Strong organization, planning and follow-up skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong experience with Balance of Plant electrical network design Strong understanding of codes and standards, NEC, UL, NFPA Strong ability to read and interpret line diagrams, ladder diagrams, and point-to-point diagrams Good ability to take initiative and work independently. Strong problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
