Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital Housekeeping Aide in Manistique, Michigan

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of SMH, as well as keeping the environment neat and pleasant. Housekeeping aides will sweep, mop, vacuum, sanitize exam and patient rooms, make beds, dust, polish, scrub, take out trash, replenish supplies, and follow SMH policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

  • Ability to follow written and oral directions.

  • One year of housekeeping experience in a hospital or institution preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Heart saver CPR Certified (obtain upon employment)

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleans and mops floors (dry and wet), vacuums.

  • Dusts and polishes furniture, telephones, TV sets, etc.

  • Cleans windows, sills, screens, and window coverings.

  • Empties trash baskets and transports medical waste to designated area(s).

  • Empties shredders and transports recycled paper to designated area(s).

  • Scours and polishes bathtubs, sinks, toilets, mirrors, and similar equipment.

  • Polishes stainless steel, cleans, and polishes glass panels.

  • Cleans walls, floor vents and oscillating fans.

  • Replenishes soap and paper products.

  • Cleans, sterilizes, and makes beds.

  • Interacts/communicates with patients.

  • Demonstrates appropriateness in meeting objectives in age-specifics.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
