RELX INC Site Reliability Engineer II in Manila, Philippines

In this role, successful candidate will code system, improve infrastructure and application, apply changes to production and non-production environment to improve deployed applications while maintaining system availability and reliability.

Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) plays an integral role in ensuring that mission critical systems and application are highly available and have a reliable platform. The role supports the New Lexis Platform by participating in the whole lifecycle of services – from inception and design, and then through deployment, operation and further refinement. SREs are also responsible in supporting applications and services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews. In addition, SREs are responsible in scaling systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve availability, reliability and performance.

Core Functions, Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with developers in supporting new features and services as they are deployed to production.

  • Monitor site availability, reliability, performance and troubleshoot issues.

  • Build automation to scale infrastructure based on forecast demand.

  • Develop custom tools as necessary.

  • Document system design and procedures.

  • Maintain applications and services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.

  • Practice sustainable incident response and blameless postmortems.

  • Partner and lead internal and external technology resources in solving complex business needs.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation.

  • Provide architectural recommendations.

  • Ensure SLA obligations are met.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Software development, Systems Engineering or DevOps experience.

  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or related technical degree.

  • Willingness to work in an On-Call rotation.

  • Intermediate proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Java/J2EE, Python, C/C++, SQL, and .Net.

  • Intermediate proficiency in the following operating systems: Linux, Unix and Windows.

  • Intermediate Cloud experience AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.

  • Experience in site operations and/or infrastructure.

  • Intermediate knowledge of containerization.

  • Ability to develop expertise in the services supported.

  • Solid interpersonal, proactive, teamwork, communication and follow up skills (verbal and written) required with different levels of hierarchy required.

  • Ability to train lower level and new hire

  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams

  • Ability to monitor, define, analyze and resolve issues both effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure production environment.

  • Knowledgeable in project management and able to contribute in Strategic planning
