Burns & McDonnell Staff Structural Engineer- Mission Critical in Manhattan, New York

Description

Burns & McDonnell, a premier provider of engineering consulting services since 1898, is seeking an experienced Staff Structural Engineer to join our team in our New York office. We are seeking top performers, preferably with experience in the Global Facilities Markets.

This position will perform structural analysis, design, and construction phase services for power generation and manufacturing facilities, data centers, and other buildings.

  • Plans, conducts, and coordinates work requiring judgment, independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

  • Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features.

  • Requires general knowledge of precedents in specialty areas and familiarity with basic principles and practices in related specialties.

  • May coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and prepare reports.

  • This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  • Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in civil/structural engineering from accredited program.

  • Minimum of 3 years related structural design experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ideal candidate must be able to perform structural gravity and lateral analysis, steel, concrete, and foundation design.

  • Familiarity with building design codes and standards such as ASCE, IBC, AISC, ACI, and AWS

  • Completion of FE exam is required.

  • Strong computer skills including structural analysis software (RISA 3D, ETABS, SAFE), and REVIT

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.

  • PE license preferred.

Compensation Range:

$120,000-170,000

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
