The Payroll Specialist Position is in the Payroll Department within the Financial Services Group. This position reports to the Assistant Payroll Manager and will be responsible for working with the payroll team and the human resources team to ensure payroll is processed semi-monthly in a smooth, timely and accurate manner. The payroll system is Workday and the Time and Attendance system is Workday Timekeeper.

Job Description:

-Responsibilities include but not limited to processing new hires, worker data changes, terminations, tax changes, direct deposits, miscellaneous changes for all companies in the YAI Network

  • Working knowledge of maintaining and updating all automated time punch data in Workday Timekeeper Time & Attendance System

  • Review all Time data in Workday to ensure all OT is paid correctly

  • Monitor California payroll to ensure all CA labor laws are in compliance

  • Answer telephone and email inquiries relating to all companies in the YAI Network

  • Respond to employment verification requests and other income related inquiries from external agencies and government organizations

  • Responsible for paycheck sorting and distribution for all companies

  • Monitoring Wage Garnishments for all companies in the YAI Network

  • Assist in compiling data for audits and special projects

  • Responsible for performing other duties as required by management team

    SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Knowledge of Workday Payroll a must

  • Knowledge of California State Labor laws and Payroll Processing a must

  • Knowledge of Workday Time & Attendance System a plus

  • Knowledge of Office 360 a plus

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word for Windows a must

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field preferred

  • Minimum of 4-5 years payroll experience in a large corporation environment

    NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

MacLeech envisioned a, “total life adjustment approach, emphasizing personal growth, social responsibility, employment goals, and the development of independence for the individual.” At a time when institutional living was the norm for people with I/DD, this vision was nothing short of revolutionary.

YAI Today:

Today, YAI has a team of over 4,000 employees and supports over 20,000 people in the I/DD community. This extraordinary growth shows the ongoing need for these important services, and YAI’s success in offering them. YAI supports people with autism, Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy, among others. Operating throughout Downstate New York and Northern New Jersey, YAI now offers more than 300 programs for people of all ages.
