They will interact with commodity and industry partners to identify, develop, and implement critical extension and applied research programs. Collaboration with research and extension faculty across Kansas and participation in multi-disciplinary, regional, or national initiatives are expected. Training and supporting professional development of extension agents in precision agriculture are expected. The successful candidate will work with agents, producers, consultants, and other industry experts to identify client needs and disseminate Kansas State University Research and Extension recommendations.   • Ph.D. in agronomy, weed science, soil science, crop science, or related field
  • Proven expertise in one or more areas of precision agriculture applied to agronomic management
  • Record of or evidence of potential for effective extension programming
  • Experience in field research with agronomic crops and crop production systems
  • Excellent written and oral comm nication skills in English
  • Strong potential for securing extramural funding
  • Strong commitment to expanding and fostering diversity in the department

\ Preferred Qualifications:

  • Documented experience with cropping systems and management practices relevant to Kansas
  • Experience in leading or working as part of an interdisciplinary extension and research team
  • Record of applied research commensurate with current career level and a strong record or potential for publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Demonstrated experience in grant writing and obtaining extramural funding commensurate with current career level
  • Demonstrated skills to effectively use electronic media to communicate technical agronomic information
