Job Description

Manages, plans, and organizes the design, construction and room renovations of the physical facilities and partners with the leadership in review of future projects and modifications. Manages project performance within the approved schedule and budget. Oversight of bidding contract awards, quality control, financial forecasting and project reports.

Job Responsibility

  • Provides leadership to Design & Construction team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives. Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system. Manages the full project lifecycle, from initial project planning phases through completion of design and construction; monitors construction progress and ensures that consultants and staff monitor work against pre-established quality standards; monitors project expenditures; forecasts possible project delays, risks cost events and potential impact on the project budget.

  • Inspects construction projects to ensure that Contract compliance and safety requirements are being met.

  • Assists in researching blueprints, alterations and modifications and inspects buildings to determine need to alterations and repair.

  • Acts as a liaison between the client and project team members regarding changes or problems.

  • Selects, negotiates with, and coordinates the work of vendors, contractors, or sub-contractors and maintains 'Qualified bidders' list for contracts that require written bids.

  • Responsible for material management and delivery scheduling tasks in support of assigned projects.

  • Tracks project progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators and prepares and delivers reports to management.

  • Leads pre-construction kick-off meeting and project meetings to ensure contractors are familiar with organization guidelines and maintain open lines of communication.

  • Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.

  • Performs related duties as required. All responsibilities noted here are considered essential functions of the job under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions.

Job Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • 6-8 years of relevant experience and 2-5 years of leadership / management experience, required.

  • Healthcare experience, preferred.

  • Staten Island location.

The salary range for this position is $98,300-$170,100/year
