As an Electrical Designer, you will be accountable for preparing engineering drawings from sketches or engineering information, budget, schedule, and technical quality of assigned routine design tasks. You need to gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule for assigned tasks. Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly. Utilize BIM software to provide layouts, general arraignments, profile views, and details. Provide on-site assistance during startup. Draft installation details, single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementariness, connection diagrams, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power plans.

Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate. Establish a professional and, if possible, a personal relationship with key client personnel with whom you interact. Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve or better these. Meet commitments that you make to the client, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed effort hour or cost budgets. Produce flawless work with minimum rework. Look for ways to reduce project cost and schedule and for ways to improve our work processes. Be positive and respectful in everything you say about the client or Jacobs or their personnel

You are expected to have knowledge of the National Electrical Code or equivalent, relevant codes and standards such as the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), etc. or equivalent, knowledge of electrical construction materials, components, and practices. Familiarity with and application of engineering design and CADD drafting standards.

Able to perform zonal cavity and point-to-point lighting level calculations, able to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications, able to perform voltage drop calculations, able to route conduit and cable tray, able to calculate tray fill, able to determine distribution, branch panel, and motor control center loading.

Familiarity with specification and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment. Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings. Knowledge and understanding of workflow/information flow between disciplines. Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements to produce all electrical deliverables.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Preferably bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, any 4-year related degree, two-year technical degree or High School can also be considered for this role.

Skills; Proficient in Revit and 2D AutoCAD or MicroStation. Proficient in Microsoft Mail, Word, Excel, OneNote, and Access. Familiarity with a third-party lighting design software package. Good listening, writing and communication skills.
