Amentum Site Safety and Health Officer in Manda Bay, Kenya

This is a pre-award opportunity located on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

The Contractor shall provide a SSHO whose primary duty and responsibility is to prepare and enforce the Contractor’s safety program on this contract. The SSHO

shall meet the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1 and ensure that the requirements of 29 CFR 1926.16 are met for Contract requirements. The SSHO or an equally-qualified Designated Representative/alternate shall be on-site at all times when work is being performed to implement and administer the Contractor's safety program and government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. Specifically, the SSHO shall have completed five years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity in the past, and have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent within the last five years and an average of at least 24 hours of safety training per year for the past five years. \The SSHO's training, experience, and qualifications shall be as required by EM 385-1-1 paragraph 01.A.17, entitled SITE SAFETY AND HEALTH OFFICER (SSHO), and all associated sub-paragraphs. The SSHO shall be a Certified Safety Professional (CSP). The SSHO shall be certified for lead abatement, asbestos abatement, confined space entry and respiratory protection. The SSHO shall be trained and qualified to conduct Mishap Investigations per OPNAV 5100.23 series. The SSHO shall maintain competency IAW EM385-1-1 requirements.

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Engineering (any field), Industrial Hygiene, Health Physics, Fire Prevention or other related scientific fields, based on a four year course of study from a U.S. or U.K. accredited college or university or equivalent institution.
