The Environmental Assessment Program{rel="nofollow"} (EAP) program within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Laboratory Technician 2 *position. This position is located in Manchester Environmental Laboratory{rel="nofollow"} (MEL) in Port Orchard, WA.{rel="nofollow"} Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station. MEL is a production lab that in part is supported by the inorganics unit. The inorganics unit manages a high sample load successfully by technically skilled staff who communicate and collaborate well.    

The Environmental Assessment Program is the science arm of Ecology. Our scientists measure and analyze environmental conditions. Quality data is our highest priority. We use this data to evaluate and communicate environmental threats and to guide the state's environmental policy decisions.

 

This Laboratory Technician 2 position is a part of the Environmental Assessment Program (EAP) whose mission is to measure, assess, and communicate environmental conditions in Washington. We work to improve the environment for current and future generations through innovative and excellent science and thriving partnerships. In the Laboratory Technician 2 role, you will analyze complex chemical tests on water, wastewater, sediment, tissue and hazardous waste in a production environmental laboratory creating legally binding data. You will gain experience in a production laboratory atmosphere, implementing EPA Methods, Standard Methods and following quality assurance protocol. You will have opportunities to build a network and collaborative relationships in this field of work.
