Electrical Engineer

Envision Technology, an innovative small business providing advanced electro-optical solutions for defense applications, is seeking an Electrical Engineer. In this role, you will contribute to the electrical design, layout, integration, and test of complex electro-optical systems and subsystems for defense applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in all stages of development from conceptual architecture studies to detailed design through system integration and manufacturing support.
  • Support senior engineers in development of overall electrical architecture for complex EOIR systems; define subsystems for other disciplines.
  • Interface with others in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment, including mechanical, software, systems, optical engineers, program managers, suppliers, and customers.
  • Detailed schematic design including:
    • Battery operated systems
    • Power/signal analysis
    • Analog and digital (FPGA/microcontroller) circuit design
    • High speed data transmission
    • EMC best practices
  • Assist with component placement and PCB layout with emphasis on high-density, low SWaP applications.
  • Aid in the evaluation of designs through simulation, prototype testing and requirement verification.
  • Troubleshoot design failure modes to root cause and develop quick, effective solutions.
  • Provide production/ manufacturing support, as needed.
  • Generate associated documentation for quotes and procurement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, with 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a fast-paced development environment.
  • Familiarity with ECAD tools for schematic capture, layout (e.g. Orcad, Allegro) and system simulation.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, debugging, and test, including basic soldering skills and test equipment use.
  • Experience with electrical design principles and testing for a military environment, particularly analog and digital designs for compact, electro-optical systems which are generally battery-operated is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and other external personnel.

Additional Information:

  • Applicant must be a US Person.
  • Brief travel within the US to customer locations may be required occasionally to support product testing or design reviews.
