TAD PGS, Inc. Material Handler in Manassas, Virginia

We have an outstanding Contract position for aMaterial Handlerto join a leading Company located in theManassas, VA surrounding area.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Transports raw, in-process, and finished goods as required by the production schedule. Ships and receives materials necessary to meet production goals and requirements. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing product & material movements, accurately. Process daily, and weekly cycle counts.

  • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the distribution center (shipping, receiving, order picking, cycle count).

  • Relies on instructions, pre-established guidelines, experience, and judgment to perform the functions of the job and accomplish goals.

  • Performs a variety of tasks autonomously and with proficiency.

  • Works under general supervision. Some degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Shipping and Receiving:

  • Perform established method of order picking (FIFO), finished goods to customers according to specified instructions.

  • Must be able to read, understand, and interpret shipping documents i.e. BOL, packing list, and pro-numbers.

  • Assembles and inserts product into cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.

  • Posts weights and shipping charges and affixes necessary postage.

  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons to identify shipping information on cartons.

  • Receives raw materials and supplies into the warehouse in accordance to our internal receiving SOP.

  • Obtains Material samples as required by sample orders.

  • Unpacks and examines all incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

  • Operates tier lift truck and uses an electric pallet jack to move, convey, or hoist shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

  • Routes incoming shipments to appropriate departments.

  • Creates computer-generated labels and documents, with light to moderate data entry required.

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand

  • Perform established method of order shipping (FIFO), ships finished goods to customers according to specified instructions.

  • Ability to use a computer to locate, store, and research inventory items.

Ground Transportation:

  • Load, transport and unload materials and supplies from suppliers and vendors using a forklift.

  • Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist materials and supplies from one location to another as specified.

  • Transport raw materials and supplies to and from specified locations

  • Examines incoming and outgoing products, materials, and supplies to ensure they meet transportation specifications.

  • Maintains cleanliness, routine maintenance, and upkeep of the company vehicle to include a daily visual safety inspection and proper fuel levels.

  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.

Truck Driving:

  • Ability to safely and efficiently transport materials and products between Company sites.

  • Comply with the Indiana/California Vehicle Codes and Laws at all times when operating company yard vehicles.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of related to material processing to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

  • Performs monthly physical inventory.

  • Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of warehouse, shipping and receiving area, and all equipment and supplies found therein.

  • Observe and follow safety procedures.

  • Observe and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Food Safety Plan (HACCP), and Food Quality Plan (FQP).

  • Take responsibility for producing high-quality products in each step of production.

  • Maintain clean work area in compliance with SQF.

  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) are followed

  • Participate in all necessary training is required to successfully perform job responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Hiring Criteria:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
