About the Role:

An opportunity has arisen for a Commis position (Italian Cuisine) to join our Food & Beverage – Culinary Department in Jumeirah Olhahali Island.

The main purpose of the position is to participate in all the food production areas of the kitchen and help in the preparation of food and service as and when required.

The key duties of a Commis will include:

  • To ensure that guest expectations are exceeded by providing an efficient, friendly and attentive service.

  • Visually inspects, selects and uses only food items of the highest standard in the preparation of all menu items.

  • Prepares all pantry food items according to standard recipes, or as otherwise specified by superior, to ensure consistency of service to guests.

  • Checks and controls the proper storage of products, especially those freshly produced, checking on portion control, so as to maintain product quality.

  • Keeps all refrigeration, equipment, and storage, and working areas in clean, working condition, in compliance with health and hygiene regulations.

  • Reports any equipment in need of repair to superiors.

  • To have an understanding and willingness to learn HACCP food hygiene and safety standards. Monitor and acts on all the HACCP processes.

  • Cater to any reasonable off menu request in a timely manner. If not then passes the information onto a senior.

  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions enabling delivery of luxurious service to guests and in line with Jumeirah's standard of excellence.

  • Supports the entire kitchen operations when required without any hesitation.

About you:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Should have knowledge of Italian Cuisine.

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a luxury 5-star hotel or a restaurant.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English – other languages will be an advantage.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
