Stantec Engineering Manager in Makati, Philippines

Job Description

Our Manila office is a new addition to Stantec’s global resourcing strategy and is being aligned with our Pune operation to continue to support our global business to deliver and succeed. As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a dynamic and growing team of over 60 technical services professionals, and connect them with our other Global Delivery Centers in India and to Stantec’s other operating regions across the globe.

Integrated Global Working (IGW) is an important part of Stantec’s strategic plan and significant growth targets have been set by our C-Suite for our India and Manila operations.

The Manila team exclusively supports Stantec’s client-facing teams to deliver high-quality engineering and design services and does not work locally in the Philippines. If you are currently an operations leader based locally but have worked internationally, ideally leading a large team of technical staff, and are respected for your management of teams and projects in your organization this role could be for you. If you enjoy meeting new people and developing relationships across cultures, while supporting project delivery across a wide range of technical disciplines you will enjoy working at Stantec.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Support the growth and diversification of our Manila office to help deliver on the significant growth targets that have been set for our Global Delivery Center operations.

  • Work closely with leaders from our other GDC operations in India to ensure close alignment of our teams and processes.

  • Coach and mentor to grow the leadership and technical capabilities of the local team, supporting a sustainable growth model.

  • Maintain high employee engagement and low turnover, alongside ongoing recruitment to meet the needs of Manila’s internal clients.

  • Continue to grow and diversify the current team through building confidence and collaborating with internal clients across Stantec.

  • Collaborate with regional leaders (RLs), regional business leaders (RBLs), sector leaders (SLs), discipline leaders (DLs), account managers, and business centre (BC) leaders, focusing on growing the Integrated Global Working model.

  • Ensure delivery of quality outputs, on schedule and on budget; seek feedback on deliverables and work with the team towards continuous improvement.

  • Deliver the annual business plan and budget for the team.

  • Review all internal fee proposals and project plans.

  • Become the expert in understanding and articulating Stantec’s operating model and systems, and connections across the business from multiple business lines

  • Accountable for the health and safety performance of the business centre

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, the HSSE management system, our ISO-certified Integrated Management System, and with Stantec’s PM framework.

Job Requirements

You’ll bring:

  • Your professional engineering and operations experience. You will take ownership for successful delivery of project work and inspire confidence in regional technical leaders and project managers working with the team.

  • Strong team building and change management skills.

  • Proven ability to effectively manage, lead, challenge, and inspire multidisciplinary teams

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of how to deliver work within Stantec’s project management Framework and project management Ecosystem model.

  • Strong business development skills, including developing new clients and maintaining strong internal client relationships.

  • Experience working with international teams and an understanding of the IGW delivery model is considered an asset.

  • Multidisciplinary design acumen and leadership experience on major projects is considered an asset.

  • English as a first language with strong written and verbal communication skills.
