All 6 areas of Asia have been a key enabler of the market IT growth through solid partnership with Governments, Enterprise, Small and Medium Corporates, as well as IT partners and consumer partners of the region. Microsoft Finance is a truly global finance team, and and you will be part of the WW FC Community and representing Asia to make each other great and build on each other.

The Asia OPEX Controller primarily oversees management of OPEX spend for Asia Region (with a primary focus on ASEAN) with strong internal controls; as well as the consolidation of other OPEX spend. This role oversees budget, forecast, closing and reviews of OPEX Expense lines (including End Customer Investment Funds) within Asia regional Management P&L. This role is vital key member of Asia Regional Financial Controlling team and meaningfully participates in financial controller rhythms. Through partnership and collaboration with area SE&O teams and Region / area Finance teams in optimizing the ROI of OPEX spend. The role will also ensure end to end flow for the region while continuing to drive for standardization and simplification.

Responsibilities

People: The Asia OPEX Controller is an experienced professional within the Asia Finance community and is expected to contribute to the thought leadership of the community.

  • In charge of the Area and Regional Management P&L including End Customer Investment Funds (ECIF) and other OPEX spend

  • Key point of contact and responsible for landing ECIF process and insights in the Area and Asia

Partnership: Trusted advisor of the Area leadership team and Asia Finance Controllership community. Collaborate with Area, Regional and Corporate stakeholders

  • Responsible for ensuring that all parties deliver maximum value to the business and are continually improving operational effectiveness.

  • Oversees the budgeting, forecasting, actual, variance and trend analysis for OPEX spend, ensuring insightful commentary provided to area leadership team and offering solutions in P&L optimization.

Prioritization: The Asia OPEX Controller manage the P&L in line with quarterly financial accountability and deliver insights on P&L OPEX spend

  • Manage the budget and forecast process across ECIF and other Opex lines, across Management P&L and Statutory books.

  • Work closely with Area FC and within Asia Regional FC team to provide Quarterly business review and actional insights.

  • P&L management.

  • Provide the required insight for quarterly SOX controls, in particular Opex Trends (CR4).

  • Own accuracy of ECIF and Other OPEX spend.

  • Opex month close, forecast, analysis & planning.

Key indicators of success

  • Own accuracy of ECIF and Other OPEX spend.

  • ECIF and Other OPEX expense insights

  • Finance Compliance results (SOX) with direct relation to the role

  • Standardization and simplification of processes

  • Strong community lead btw area and core teams

  • Sufficient and accurate SOX Controls.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years of post-graduate Financial Analysis, Accounting, Controllership or Finance work experience

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • +2-3 year(s) experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles.

  • +2-3 year(s) work experience in matrix-based organization.

  • +2-3 year(s) work experience in the technology or software industry.

  • Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountants (CA) or equivalent certification.
