Description Our Assistant Kitchen Managers assist in providing healthy, sanitary, nutritious, and appealing

food for the students and staff.

A Day in the Life

Prepare healthy, sanitary, appealing food that meets the nutritional needs of students

and staff.

Utilizes sound sanitation standards to meet all district, state, and federal mandates.

Assists in serving food so that staff and students receive the food in a timely and friendly

manner.

Assists in tasks necessary for efficient functioning of the food service program (e.g.

washing dishes, scanning tickets, keeping the kitchen cleaned and organized, etc).

Assists in keeping track of daily inventory, re-stocking supplies, and notifying manager so

that the food service program has the necessary resources to function efficiently.

Monitors the temperature of the food, dishwasher, etc. ensuring HACCP Compliance.

Assists other kitchen staff with any task that needs to be completed in order to meet

deadlines.

Maintains confidentiality as appropriate in order to comply with district, state and federal

laws.

Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective

functioning of the food service program.

Profile of a Successful Candidate

Substitutes for the other tasks when a kitchen assistant is absent.

Performs deep cleaning/defrosting tasks in order to maintain an organized, clean, and

efficient kitchen.

Is a Team Worker

Has Basic computer skills

Is able to work at a fast pace

Has knowledge of basic math skills

Is knowledgeable of state health regulations

Kitchen experience recommended

Education, Certification

High school diploma or equivalent

Food Safety Basics-State Department of Education

Physical Demands, Working Environment

Generally 80% standing and 20% walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping,

kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Fine finger dexterity used.

The work environment varies from extremely hot to extremely cold (freezer).

The job is performed under some hazardous conditions.

Must work in noisy and crowded environments.
