Are you ready to lead a dynamic team of engineers and tradespeople in the heart of Maitland? Sulzer Australia, a renowned provider of services for rotating equipment, is seeking a Workshop Manager to help lead our operations at our Maitland Service Centre. As part of our commitment to excellence, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our workshop, delivering top-notch solutions to clients across various industries including power generation, petrochemicals, mining, and heavy manufacturing.

Role Highlights:

  • Reporting into the Service Centre Manager, you will lead and support a team of approx. 15 Fitters, Project Engineers, Trade Assistants and Apprentices to deliver exceptional results.

  • Collaborate closely with the Service Centre Manager to achieve and exceed budgetary targets.

  • Drive efficiency by forecasting workshop loading and optimizing workflows.

  • Develop master production schedules and work orders through regular work in progress meetings.

  • Ensure timely and budget-friendly completion of all work scopes, maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Manage job folder costing and labour utilization, ensuring optimal resource allocation.

  • Uphold Company QESH systems to maintain a safe and compliant workshop environment.

  • Foster the learning and development of apprentices and team members, contributing to a culture of growth and excellence.

Role Requirements:

  • Trade Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (desired).

  • Specialization in High-speed rotating plant, steam/gas turbines, and pumps.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory position.

  • Exceptional communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams and clients.

  • Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
