What you will do:

The exciting new role is responsible for all aspects of continuous improvement in the Stryker Mahwah manufacturing facility, one of the largest manufacturing facilities in Stryker. The key focus of his role will be on building scalable and sustainable processes that support and drive improvements across key metrics such as Productivity, Manufacturing loss, Overall Equipment Efficiency, WIP Management and more. The candidate will be responsible for championing a culture of continuous improvement onsite, utilizing and sharing lean principles such as 6S, Lean, DMAIC process, Kaizen events, value stream mapping and process improvements, all which align to Stryker's mission of 'making healthcare better.'

You will drive manufacturing excellence initiatives in Stryker's Mahwah, NJ manufacturing facility, while partnering with the regional and franchise continuous improvement teams. You will be managing transformational initiatives to identify and implement process improvements across the shop floor and in supporting business processes. You will coach and influence peer managers and indirect, cross-functional teams to deploy improvements and deliver financial results using Lean and other Continuous Improvement methodologies. The Manager, Continuous Improvement has direct report(s) but will be relied upon to execute on a daily basis.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Drive the development, assessment, recommendation, and implementation of continuous improvement/re-engineering initiatives to simplify processes, eliminate waste, reduce operational risk, and achieve cost efficiencies in manufacturing and business processes

  • Deploy the Stryker Manufacturing Excellence framework

  • Train and mentor designated teams and individuals within the business on Lean and other CI concepts and support the business to meet/exceed budgets

  • Provide management support to remove barriers and facilitate conflict resolution in matrix organization

  • Track and measure CI program performance and progress towards site assessment accreditation, when applicable

  • Identify, manage and drive cost improvement initiatives measured in dollars saved across the business, including productivity, manufacturing loss, AGED WIP and more

  • Partner with local management to define relevant process KPIs, including ownership and KPI input variables

  • Utilize digitalization to gather data from process flow processes, developing trends and insights, that contribute to develop business strategies and solutions

  • Partnering, and learning from, other Stryker sites, adopting best practices into the Mahwah facility

What you need:

  • Bachelor's Degree required (degree in Industrial Engineering highly preferred or relevant discipline)

  • 8+ years of work experience required

  • Previous years of experience successfully defining, deploying, and executing continuous improvement initiatives required

  • Prior people leader experience required

  • Production system deployment experience -preferred

  • Experience using ERP systems and Power BI and associated technology capabilities -preferred

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification - preferred

  • Project Management certification - preferred

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry - preferred
