Xylem Systems & Financial Accountant Iberia in Madrid, Spain

Job Summary :

Xylem Iberia – that´s mainly Xylem Spain, Xylem Portugal, Xylem Sensus but not limited - seeks to hire a Systems & Financial Accountant with high level of English (Junior with some experience, or senior) to join their accounting team. This position will be primarily responsible for working closely with a diverse ERP ecosystem (3 ERP: IBM-BPCS, SAP, iscala) and business tools (OS (Oracle HFM), SAP BO, Coupa, SQL queries, Power BI, Excel, etc …) to ensure the financial reporting for the Iberia region.

This role works directly with senior accounting leadership and other Xylem teams like Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and IT to ensure timely monthly closings, reporting, yearly financial statement elaboration, audits, and financial reviews.

At the beginning this role will primarily assist in the transition of Xylem Sensus processes into Xylem Spain and Sensus reporting as an individual unit in OS until the IT strategy is decided.

This role requires an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional capable of working in a fast-paced environment while collaborating with various business stakeholders in administering the day-to-day operation of Xylem’s Global Finance program.

Principal Responsibilities :

Systems:

  • Support & lead the local Xylem financial accounting systems to ensure effective operation, functionality, accuracy, integrity of data and reporting structure.

  • Provide recommendations to support continuous improvement of financial business systems and processes.

  • Liaise with stakeholders to build and incorporate financial systems improvements, functionality, reporting, data loading and controls.

Financial Accountant:

  • Support the preparation of month-end closing in OS.

  • Preparing & reviewing the monthly profit and loss and balance sheet reports.

  • Ensure timely processing of AP, T&E, Fixed Asset, Treasury and other accounting activities.

  • Tax reporting experience.

  • Collecting and analyzing data which is then used in the preparation of monthly reporting.

  • Creating & monitoring KPI reports.

  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts under US GAAP, statutory accounts (PGC & IFRS) and external audit.

  • Preparing or responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data.

  • Support Xylem's internal audit program by participating in balance sheet and SOX audits

  • Examining financial records to check for accuracy.

  • Managing and training staff when necessary

  • Compliance with company procedures in general, mainly regarding cost control and Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls (SOX).

  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls (leveraging on IT tools).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, plus a minimum of 4 years

  • Fluent level of English and Spanish

  • Minimum 4 years experience in a multinational company in a relevant role

  • Demonstrate both the ability and motivation to work collaboratively in a team environment, across regions and functions, as well as working independently with minimal oversight.

  • Self-starter who can prioritize tasks and manage deadlines, navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

  • Excellent analytical skills demonstrating an ability to identify root causes, generate and evaluate alternatives, and implement solutions.

  • Proficiency in MS (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

Preferrable Qualifications:

  • Desirable experience working with IT systems such as ERP´s (IBM, iscala, SAP) and business intelligence tools (SAP Business objects, Cognos, Power BI, SQL)

  • An understanding of relevant accounting rules and Xylem policies (PGC, IFRS, US GAAP).

  • desirable experience in SAP, OS (HFM), SQL, Power BI
