How often have you had an opportunity to lead a team that focuses on exploring the business models of the future, while simultaneously implementing solutions that improve current operations? The International Direct Fulfillment team is looking for a leader that is able to embrace the tension between old and new and foster a state of constant creative conflict. DF’s supply chain is becoming increasingly borderless, with increasing scale and complexity. The head of the Expansion, Growth and Innovation focuses on (i) Program Management of expansion into other Amazon countries; (ii) driving key high value strategic projects that will drive exponential growth of the International DF business.

As a Principal, you will be a key contributor to the future technology roadmap and long-term vision of Direct Fulfillment within Amazon’s Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) team. You will lead large cross-functional initiatives that focus on developing future business models with a key focus on improving customer experience, the overall growth structure of the business, keeping the highest priority on Safety and Sustainability.

Once Countries are approved for launch, you will hire a team of Program Managers who will be responsible for setting up DF operations in all new DF marketplaces, managing the ambiguity between what needs to be done “in-country” vs. what should be managed by the central teams. You will be responsible for driving the topline growth of new countries, developing ambitious ramp-up plans and coordinating with in-country Retail teams to deliver the growth. Additionally, you will develop high value strategic initiatives across the regions, design and implement pilots, and create clear Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) to be included into the management cycles. You will work with the SCOT Product and Tech teams to ensure that initiatives are implemented in scalable and tech-driven ways.

To be successful in this role, you need an aptitude ambidextrous leadership, exploiting existing products and services while simultaneously exploring new offerings and business models. You will: (1) Engage the senior team around a forward-looking strategic aspiration. (2) Explicitly hold the tension between the demands of innovation and the core business at the top of the organization. (3) Embrace inconsistency by maintaining multiple and often conflicting strategic agendas. You need to be able to “Think Big”, seeing beyond barriers (including limitations of technology) and challenges to reset the bar. Driving a direction that is bold but rational, defensible and achievable (stretch goals). We operate as a start-up, therefore you will need to use sound business judgement to make the right decisions quickly and achieve results even in the absence of complete data. Furthermore, with multiple dependencies across partner teams, you will need to be skilled at stakeholder management across multiple VP-organisations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

· Creating a vision that is bigger than current reality, while executing short term customer needs with excellence.

· Working with the Amazon International Expansion team and DF Product team to develop the roadmap for DF expansion across Marketplaces where DF is not yet launched. Owning and Lead the Program Management for all Expansions. Developing relationships with key partner teams, including but not limited to Retail, Finance, Operations, Expansions.

· Leading the Team of Senior Operations Managers who will be responsible for the design and operations set up in new countries where we do not have a regional leader. Proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks (before they become roadblocks). Manage and solve Transportation related escalations

· Ensuring we set up our operations with the right mechanisms to meet our promise to customers, measured by Delivery Estimate Accuracy (DEA) by ensuring that all leading and lagging Vendor metrics are met (including, GMS, Expected Ship Date (ExSD))

· Launching large Projects. Driving innovation by taking ownership of new projects and delivering them with success across multiple functions, with safety, scalability and sustainability in mind.

· Service expansion: Partner with DF Global Product, Tech and Capability teams as well as other engineering teams to evaluate, develop, or support new product/service programs that add value to customers and Amazon business teams. Determining which projects move forward and in what priority order

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Experience in program or project management

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering projects within scope, time, budget and quality
