Advertised Salary:

Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required; background in life sciences, biotechnology, engineering, project management, or business development strongly preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

At least 5 years of experience in business development, relationship management or similar commercial role required. Level and salary will be commensurate with experience. Understanding of UW-Madison is beneficial. Experience with university practices regarding development, recruiting, sponsorship, collaborative research and/or philanthropy highly desired.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable speaking in small groups or large forums. Excellent planning and follow through skills are also essential in this role.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Managing Director of the Office of Business Engagement (OBE), the primary role of this position is to build new and improve/expand existing relationships between UW-Madison and private-sector companies. These comprehensive relationships will include, but are not limited to: student recruitment, research partnerships, philanthropy, sponsorship opportunities, executive education and technology transfer. OBE's mission is to position UW-Madison to be a national leader in university/industry relations and to become a partner of choice.
