JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Medicine and Public Health is seeking a motivated individual to serve as an Ultrasound Physicist as part of an academic career within the Department of Radiology at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor on the CHS (Clinical Health Sciences) Track. The successful applicant will have a strong background in ultrasound physics, with interests and expertise in the application of advanced ultrasound methods in a busy clinical setting and translational research environment. This vacancy is being announced simultaneously with Position Vacancy (Job #) 288192; please note that only one vacancy exists. Having two position vacancy listings allows the School of Medicine and Public Health to consider candidates with both tenure-track faculty credentials and non-tenure-track faculty credentials for this position. Responsibilities: The ultrasound physicist will have clinical service, research, and teaching responsibilities as described further below. 50% Clinical Ultrasound Physics Responsibilities 1. Assist in establishing institutional policies and guidelines regarding the safe and effective use of ultrasound imaging equipment and performance of procedures. 2. Trouble-shoot clinical issues on the ultrasound imaging equipment such as identifying and ameliorating image artifacts and other problems affecting clinical image quality. Coordinate with vendors to ensure that the ultrasound imaging equipment is properly and routinely serviced and maintained. 3. Contribute technical input to inform decisions regarding the purchase of new ultrasound imaging equipment, perform required acceptance testing of new ultrasound imaging equipment, and conduct ongoing Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/ QC) of existing ultrasound imaging equipment, including activities required for maintaining accreditation. 4. Work with the Chief of the Imaging Sciences Section, the Medical Director of Ultrasound, and the Ultrasound Manager to address other issues related to clinical background. 5.
