This telecommunications technician position will work at the direction of the End Use Support section chief within the Department of Natural Resources.

location: MADISON, Wisconsin

job type: Contract

salary: $20.33 - 25.33 per hour

work hours: 8am to 5pm

education: Bachelors

responsibilities:

  • This position will work with cellular vendors for new and upgrade phone orders, along with service suspensions and cancellations.

  • This position will work with a ticketing system where all work requests and progress are tracked.

  • This position will update inventory and various other systems, therefore attention to detail and the ability to follow complicated procedures is required.

  • This position may also support teleconferencing events, which involve camera and sound system set up.

  • This position works with other technicians across the DNR, and with customers and VIPs as well, so great customer service skills are required as well.

Required skills:

  • Experience in supporting smart phones - 2 years minimum

  • Experience in working with cellular vendors - 2 years minimum

  • Experience in following detailed procedures - 2 years minimum

  • Experience in working with a ticketing systems to track work - 2 years minimum

  • Experience in tactful and professional communications with teammates and customers - 2 years minimum

The most qualified candidate will also have:

  • Experience with using online vendor portals

  • Experience working on a technical team

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite including Teams

Optional skillsets:

  • Experience in drafting and documenting procedures

  • Experience in supporting conference room technologies

  • Experience with video cameras and sound systems
